RUBICON: The Dialectic, (2:30). Is a transmedia, animated-live-action installation film in Virtual Reality that loops permanently, and is fully interactive. RUBICON expresses my inner feelings as a Venezuelan migrant escaping from the destruction of my country. My film is a mixed media VR installation that I achieved by directing two amateur actors using The Method (Stanislavsky) I made them play a game of chess as a metaphor of the status quo. I used this soundtrack to create a parallel effect by juxtaposing images that represent oppression, riots, war, and freedom. I used projectors, shower curtains, and animated sequences that I made. Almost all the parts were shot with a 16mm Bolex. With this piece I portray my deep desire and hope; that art will overcome any totalitarian or ultraconservative control agenda or any imposed ideology. RUBICON ends with a quote from Slajov Zizek: “We feel free because we lack the very language to articulate our unfreedom.” Rubicon is also part of my MFA thesis.

The Dialectic
The Dialectic, Is part of my thesis VR installation film Rubicon.
In times before the pandemic, This projection was planned for me to allow the spectator to actually wear the cone/oil rig hat. Isolating themselves and being part of the Dialectic taking place in the installation by leaning against 'The Wall' and getting the projection over the cone. Wearing the cone is actually a trip in contrast of the violence and fire happening outside the cone.  My exploration into VR has opened to me new territories of artistic expression.
